Forget the yellow brick road, all roads lead to the Mountbellew agricultural show on 22 August for its first ever scarecrow competition, where organisers are promising an entertaining Wizard of Oz-like experience.

Local crows have reportedly packed their bags and are headed to safer feeding grounds.

The public can also enjoy the All-Ireland final of the Galway ewe lamb competition, a magnificent display of crochet, the pedigree cattle section, a horse section and children’s entertainment including pony rides, among many more activities.

The show will be officially opened at noon by Teresa Roche, IFA farm family and social affairs chair.

Tickets are €10 per adult, with free admission for all children.
