An Coimisiún Toghcháin, Ireland’s independent electoral commission, is giving visitors to next week’s National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, Co Offaly, the opportunity to vote for the nation’s favourite cattle breed.

The 'Great Bovine Ballot' will give visitors to An Coimisiún Toghcháin’s stand the opportunity to practice PR-STV voting.

An Coimisiún Toghcháin will be registering new voters and helping others to update their details.

'High-steaks' election

Yellow T-shirted electoral commission team members with iPads will be ensuring people cast their PR-STV votes correctly, are registered to vote in Ireland’s other elections and have their details correct on Ireland’s electoral register.

Other activities will also include a country and western-themed karaoke, a spin the wheel quiz and 'I’m a voter' give-aways.
