The venue for the waste tyre collection in Waterford has been changed from New Ross Mart to the old Albatros Fertiliser plant. The new venue is located on the Waterford road in New Ross.
The Irish Farm Film Producers’ Group (IFFPG) has posted on its Facebook to inform farmers of the change to the collection, which is due to take place on 9 October. Farmers are also reminded a valid herd number is required.
Recycling
The collection of waste tyres is part of a scheme by the Department of the Environment, where farmers can secure a subsidised rate to recycle the tyres. Tyres will be accepted at the new venue from 9am until 5pm at a cost of €15/t for the first three tonnes and €160/t thereafter.
A total of €700,000 was committed by Minister Denis Naughten for the scheme, with four collection dates announced. The first of these was in Cootehill, where strong demand for the service seen tailbacks up to 2.5km long.
The IFA has called for further funding and further collection dates to allow as many farmers as possible to recycle unwanted tyres.
