Argentina – scrapie found in sheep

Argentina has notified the World Organisation for Animal Health that it has found three cases of classical scrapie, a fatal brain disease, in sheep (WBR).

Australia – dairy imports increase

Australia’s dairy imports surged in February, increasing by 26.15% or 56m kg liquid milk equivalent (54.3m litres) (DCA).

Germany – beef output decline

Beef production in Germany declined by 6% last year and self-sufficiency dipped below 100% for the first time (WBR).

Haiti – wheat imports increase

USDA forecasts that Haiti’s wheat imports in marketing year 2026/27 will increase by 10,000t to 550,000t, driven by population growth.
