Irish Country Meats and Teagasc are holding two farm walks in collaboration in Camolin and Navan over the coming weeks. The first event will take place on the farm of Tom O’Connor, Askinvillar Lower, Kiltealy, Co Wexford (Y21 V218), on Wednesday 29 July, starting at 6.30pm sharp.
The second event will take place on the farm of Bernard Fox, Corballis, Ballivor, Co Meath (C15 EK26), on Thursday 6 August, again at 6.30pm sharp. Both events are free for farmers to attend and pre-booking is not required.
Topics discussed on the evening will include breeding and genetics, flock health, flock performance and store lamb finishing. There will also be a live lamb selection demonstration to give an insight into selecting lambs for finishing and what key traits to look for.
Tom O’Connor runs a high-performing flock of 240 Suffolk X Belclare mid-season lambing ewes, breeding his own replacement ewe lambs and sending all his lambs to ICM Camolin.
