Eoin Cleary, a dairy farmer from Birr, has found that using a combination of Ark Flash Bolus and Ark Nopa Bolus provides effective support during this critical stage.
“For cows with experience of mastitis, we support them with a combination of the Ark Flash Bolus and the Ark Nopa Bolus. We find it works really well in the first stage of lactation,” Eoin explains.
A key benefit is the ability to support cows without disrupting milk supply.
“It works well even when animals have been prescribed medication and when using Ark boluses, the milk is going straight into the tank as there is no milk withholding time.”
With a growing focus on reducing antibiotic use, Eoin sees these products as part of a more sustainable approach.
“It’s clear we have to move away from antibiotics. The objective is to get the animal back to health as quickly as possible. Having products like this helps reduce the need for mastitis tubes.”
Early detection through monitoring systems allows for timely intervention, helping prevent issues from becoming more severe and supporting long-term herd performance.
“We’ve been using the Ark Bolus Range together with our monitoring system and it is delivering excellent herd results for us,” said Eoin.
