If the price goes up, then they will be paid the higher harvest price. This is based on beans delivered at 20% moisture content.
WASDE
The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report came out on Monday.
The United States Department of Agriculture reported that the global wheat outlook for 2025/2026 is for larger supplies, consumption, trade and ending stocks.
Supplies were raised by 4.3m tonnes in the report based on higher production for Argentina and Russia, which the report said “more than offsets a reduction for Turkey”.
Global coarse grain production (maize and barley) is also forecast up in the report by 14.8m tonnes. Foreign coarse grain production is expected to increase, while trade and ending stocks are not to change.
The report stated: “Foreign corn production is forecast higher with an increase for China, where production is raised to a record 301.2m tonnes based on data from the National Bureau of Statistics.”
On oilseeds, it was reported that global soybean production is increased 3.1m tonnes to 425.7m, based on higher production in Brazil and the US, but lower output for China.
Brazil soybean production is raised 3m tonnes to 178m due in some way to good weather during the growing season.
Malting barley
Bord Bia reported last week that drink exports increased by 2% to €2bn in 2025. This mainly came from beer and cream liqueur sales.
Irish beer exports increased by 7% to €350m and cream liqueur increased by 10% to €430m.
Irish whiskey accounts for 45% of the total drinks export value and this declined by 5% to €930m in 2025.
On the continent this week, Free-On-Board Planet malting barley was reported at €184.75/t for January/March delivery this week, while October/March 2026/2027 delivery was trading at €209/t (dried), just €8-9/t above the milling wheat price.
