Former Secretary General of the Department of Agriculture Tom Moran has been appointed chair of the board of the Public Appointments Service (PAS).

The PAS is responsible for providing recruitment, assessment and selection services for the Civil Service and other public bodies, such as the Health Service Executive and An Garda Síochána.

Moran was top-man in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine from 2005 until 2015.

Throughout his public sector career, he held a number of international policy and international trade negotiation leadership roles. Moran also formerly served as Ireland's Agriculture Attaché to France and to the OECD.

He has a lengthy list of roles and positions held since living the department, including a non-executive director of the Kerry Group, non-executive director of Elivia, director of An Bord Bia, chairman of An Bord Bia’s Dairy Subsidiary Board, chairman of Audit Committee of PAS and chairman of Audit Committee of Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government.
