A small community group from the east Galway village of Killimor is on a quest to deliver improved social amenities for its residences with help from a local rugby star. The community group, made up of eight people, needs €400,000 in order to build an artificial pitch, a running and walking track, as well as a children’s playground, all on the site of the old national school in the heart of Killimor village. John Muldoon, who is captain of the Connacht rugby team and has made three appearances for Ireland, said he got involved in the project to help give something back to the local area as well as helping to provide facilities to the next generation. The auction takes place on 2 November in Killimor national school at 2pm.
