Friday evening saw a full yard of cattle sell to red hot demand driven by grass buyers and northern customers in Drumshanbo Mart.
With three rings in full flow, it made short work of the 750 cattle on offer.
Cull cows were out in force, with a notable number of cows appearing tested inside the last 30 days.
Cows met a flying trade, with over €4/kg to be got for well-bred young continental cows, with the general trade from €3.20/kg to €3.70/kg for store cows with a handful of older dairy-bred cows falling short of the €3/kg mark.
The heifer ring was on fire, with top-quality lots able to cross €5/kg, with over €4.50/kg regularly seen for store heifers over 400kg.
Continental-cross heifers sold to the best demand, with weanling heifers weighing 400kg and under the best trade, with top lots just shy of €6/kg.
The bull weanling and bullock ring saw a strong trade, with cattle under 350kg crossing €5.50/kg, while cattle over 350kg were selling from €3.70/kg for lesser lots to the top third crossing €5/kg.
There was a small entry of breeding stock, with cows and calves the best sellers, selling to a top of €4,700.
