Weather forecast

Today is forecast to be cold and blustery, with widespread showers of rain or sleet, heaviest and most frequent in the west and north.

Highest temperatures will reach 8°C in parts.

A status yellow rainfall warning remains in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo until 1.00pm on Thursday, with accumulations of 30mm to 50mm forecast.

Meanwhile, a status yellow snow and ice warning is in place nationwide for widespread heavy and thundery showers which will produce hail, sleet and snow at times, leading to accumulations of ice on untreated surfaces.
