Camsaw Distributors Ltd was established in 1987 and is a leading provider and distributor of garden machinery and equipment in Ireland, as well as being the official Irish agent of Oleo-Mac and Weibang garden and forest machines.

Philip Carney started the business and his son Paul is now running the company.

“We are a family business, employing six staff across our sales, service, warehousing and office departments. From our central location in Unit 6, Portarlington Business Park, Co Laois, we import and distribute a wide range of products for our customer network nationwide. Our focus is on quality products, an exceptional service and a competitive price at all times and this is what sets us apart,” says Philip.

Camsaw has grown a loyal dealer network around the country.

“We keep introducing new products and do all we can to ensure our dealers receive the most competitive prices for their customers.” Paul Carney explains. “This year we will be launching two brand-new websites with access to the most up to date information on products from our exclusive ranges of Oleo-Mac and Weibang.”

Why Weibang and Oleo-Mac?

Oleo-Mac is Italy’s leading garden machine brand, with products sold worldwide. They are known for producing highly-dependable machines that have been designed to be simple to use and maintain, which is the most important attribute for the end user.

Their pro range of chainsaws will provide you with up to 10-times the working life of a normal domestic chainsaw. Also, their advanced engines make them more fuel efficient.

Camsaw’s second brand Weibang puts innovation to the forefront, as well as offering a competitive price for a product that stands the test of time. Both brands come with a comprehensive two-year warranty.

Choosing a mower

When choosing a mower, there are a number of important elements that you should look out for. Keep in mind the size of your lawn. A small, flat lawn will be just fine with a push mower. The Weibang steel deck range of lawnmowers is a great option here.

If you are looking for something with more capability, check out the alloy deck range. Lawns of more than 15,000ft2 should consider a ride-on mower.

Think of your lawnmower as an investment. It’s better to spend a little extra on a brand you trust and that will last you longer.

Maintenance tips

These basic everyday tips that may seem obvious, but are hugely important.

  • 1. Always use the fuel and oil recommended by the engine manufacturer and keep it fresh. Unleaded petrol goes stale if stored for more than three months and will make your mower difficult to start.
  • 2. If you need to access the underside of the mower for inspection or clearing, always lift the it up from the front so that the spark plug points upwards. Never turn the mower on its side as this will allow fuel from the carburetor and/or oil from the sump to flow into the air filter, or the silencer. This leads to difficult starting, excessive smoking and possible terminal contamination of the air filter.
  • 3. Keep your spark plugs clean and check your air filter regularly.
  • 4. Keep the drive mechanism on self-propelled mowers in good working order. Regularly remove the belt cover to clear accumulated grass and debris and check the condition of the drive belt.
  • 5. Have your blades sharpened regularly or replace them. Rotary mower blades should be replaced every two years to prevent metal fatigue.
  • 6. Be mindful of where you store your mower. At the end of the season, store in a dry garage to avoid unnecessary wear and tear from the elements.
  • New mower

Philip Carney breaks down the cost of servicing and maintaining a mower.

“Our lawnmowers start from €259, with an annual service cost of €50 to €65, depending on the model. If you look after your mower properly you shouldn’t have many problems or issues, but we are here to help if and when you do run into any routine difficulties.”

Camsaw also distribute Oleo-Mac’s complete range of tillers and scarifiers.

“The ideal model for your garden vegetable patch, with many people opting to ‘grow your own’, is the Oleo-Mac tiller (MH150RK) complete with forward and reverse. It is available for just €670 including VAT, and also includes a comprehensive two-year warranty.”

Camsaw also stock a new range of Oleo-Mac protective clothing, including jackets, trousers, forestry boots, wellies and helmets.

    The future

Camsaw Ltd has big plans for 2014 and into the future.

“The year 2013 saw us launching a new brand identity. We will continue to provide our dealers with the best products on the market and to increase our dealer network around the country. We have started to build up the ways our customers can engage with us and the Camsaw brand,” concludes Philip.
