After just being appointed a larger territory for Case Construction equipment, Cowan Bros has big plans to put the new Case 721G X+ Agri wheel loader through its paces at Grass 2026 in Kilkenny next week. With two depots in Northern Ireland, Cowan Bros NI Ltd is a full line Case IH Agriculture and Case Construction dealer.
In business since 1971, Cowan Bros is a family-run firm now in its second generation and, following its recent appointment for Case construction equipment, it now covers nine more countries – along with Norther Ireland – including Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Leitrim, Westmeath, Longford, Cavan and Monaghan.
721G+ X-Agri loader
After taking a renewed look at its wheel loaders, CNH beefed up its offering last autumn. The ‘+’ model is a new machine purpose-built for silage pit work, and not just another construction model fitted with agri tyres and sent to work.
In the construction version, the 6.7l FPT NEF engine offers 195hp. Meanwhile, the new ‘+’ Agri model churns out 30% more horsepower, at 255hp.
Torque has also increased noticeably from 950Nm to 1,300Nm, an overall increase of 37%.
Engine service intervals have been stretched out to 1,000 hours, while fluid drains points are now easily accessed at the rear of the machine.
In order to better transfer the power to the ground, an extra gear has been added to the now-six-speed 48km/h ZF transmission. What’s more, torque lockup of the torque convertor is available from first gear, where it was previously only offered from second gear onwards.
New models will include the same axles as found on the larger models. Aside from a newly designed boom joystick, there is now an option of joystick steering system, similar to that offered by other competitors.
The cooling pack has increased in response to the power increase, but the cube type setup remains and in such a way that none of the five radiators is sacked behind each other.
A reverse fan is now fitted as standard. The longer boom is fitted as standard on the ‘+’ models.
Other updates to the ‘+’ model include an increase in diesel, from 250l to 350l, 180-degree rear view camera, and a 43,000 lumen LED light package and an optional fridge.
Fender design has also been tweaked to allow better clearance. The 721G+ X-Agri loader weighs in at 16.3t.
