Chinese manufacturer Zoomline exhibited three hybrid tractors and a hybrid combine on its stand. Coming from a construction equipment background, Zoomline also exhibited Rabe equipment, previously a German-owned tillage equipment manufacturer, until Zoomline purchased it in 2020 when it entered financial difficulty.

The flagship tractor on its stand was the DV3504. Its 350hp Chinese-built engine powers a generator which in turn powers an electric drivetrain, which tops out at 50km/h. The tractors battery offers an electric boost up to 300hp. The battery is recharged when the full power of the engine is not needed. Electric motors power the PTO and hydraulic pumps. Zoomline explained that a similar system is also used on its 235hp DQ2604 and 160hp DL1604. A spokesperson noted that the firm is prototyping two more powerful models, the 380hp DV3804 and the 400hp DV4004. Zoomline also showcased a prototype hybrid combine, which incorporates the same diesel-electric technology.

The combine sources power from a 480hp diesel engine, which charges a nickel manganese cobalt battery. When the pull comes on, combined power increases to 600hp. The hybrid combine features a share of electric motors, which replace the conventional belt and chain drives for the transmission, threshing rotors, the feeder house and the header.

These motors are powered by an 11kWh battery. The manufacturer says that the concept reduces the number of belts, chains and mechanical linkages by 70%, for a claimed 30% energy saving and lower maintenance cost.
