JCB has unveiled new versions of the 407 and 409 compact loading shovels and the TM180 and TM220 telescopic wheeled loaders, which now meet EU Stage V exhaust emissions standards.

The firm claims the powertrain upgrades have led these machines to become more fuel efficient.

The machines see the addition of a new engine shutdown feature, which prevents unnecessary fuel wastage if the machines stand idle during pauses when handling materials.

They also now feature a new Eco Drive Mode that electronically reduces engine revs once the machine’s top speed has been reached, resulting in a claimed 16% lower fuel consumption during road travel.

All four machines are powered by the 2.5-litre Kohler engine, equipped with a DPF (diesel particulate filter).

JCB notes that the addition of the DPF won’t affect power, torque outputs or visibility.

The 407 benefits from a new “whisper-quiet” Rexroth hydraulic pump to reduce noise levels in work.

JCB has also upgraded the cab interior on these machines, bringing it closer to the standard of the Command Plus cab fitted to larger JCB wheeled loaders.
