Keenan took to Twitter last Friday to extend support to farmers struggling because of the drought. If a farmer is in need of a mixer wagon to overcome unusual feeding circumstances, Keenan is now offering a hiring service.

The unprecedented drought conditions have resulted in difficulties for farmers feeding their livestock. Many have been forced to incorporate a range of different forages and concentrates into their animals’ diets.

In response to this, Keenan is giving farmers who do not own or have access to a mixer wagon the opportunity to rent one of the company’s machine. Farmers will have the opportunity to rent a machine for a three-month period.

The rentals that Keenan will be hiring out are from a stock of recent trade-in machines.

Keenan commercial director Matt Higgins said: “Livestock farmers are facing a severe fodder crisis this winter due to a drought-induced absence of grass. The current situation is unprecedented and is causing significant financial pressures on farms and huge stress for farmers,” he said.

“We were prompted to take action as we have been inundated with calls from across the country from farmers who are actively looking for support in this crisis.”
