Last Saturday’s sale of cattle at Markethill Mart in Co Armagh saw nearly 800 cattle through the rings and a noticeably firmer trade for store and heavy beef cattle.

Topping the bullock trade was an exceptional Belgian Blue animal from a Crossgar farmer.

Weighing 834kg, this 32-month-old bullock went on to sell for £3,700 (444p/kg).

His comrade, an April 2024-born 800kg Charolais, sold for £3,170 (396p/kg).
