A new addition to this year’s Sustainable Livestock Village at the FBD National Livestock show was a photo competition, with all the entries showcased at Tullamore Show on 10 August. The aim of the competition was to highlight some of the good work in terms of sustainability being done on farms across all sectors throughout the country.
All of the entries were printed on a large photo wall at the FBD National Livestock Show sustainability village. The winners were chosen at the show in Tullamore on 10 August. The four finalists were selected as Roisin Smyth from Co Cavan, Brian Joyce from Co Mayo, Lorraine Hogan from Co Cork and Liam Barton from Co Laois; with each taking home a prize of €200 each. The overall winner was selected as Brian Joyce for his photo of his Mayo Mountain ewe standing on land beneath Croagh Patrick in Co Mayo. Tullamore Show’s Michael Dolan said: “We wanted to highlight some of the good sustainability actions that are happening on farms across the country and showcase those actions and we were really happy with the standard of entries we received and more importantly the stories behind them.”
