The Dealer was never one for choirs. Choirs are invariably populated by the great and good of the parish – people who never hum and wouldn’t be caught dead whistling.
And if you can’t hum or whistle, you generally have no business singing.
However, to every rule there is an exception – and so The Dealer says hats off to the Hawkstone Farmers’ Choir that recently won Britain’s Got Talent.
The choir was established by celebrity farmer Jeremy Clarkson, of Clarkson’s Farm fame, and includes farmers from the Chipping Norton area of Oxfordshire where his 1,000ac holding is located.
The choir – which was supported on the night by an emotional Clarkson – dedicated their win to Britain’s beleaguered farmers. Now that’s a win worth humming, whistling and singing about.
