Factories moved over the weekend and at the start of the week to pull prices back by another 5c/kg.
The move came from the main processing plants with quotes of €3.95/kg and €4.05/kg offered to sellers.
Some independent plants followed suit, while others remained on a quote of €4.00/kg for steers and €4.10/kg for heifers.
IFA national livestock chair Angus Woods has accused the meat factories of undermining the beef market with unnecessary cattle price cuts geared at eroding confidence at farmer level.
