Gusts of up to 100km/h are expected this weekend as storm Ciara reaches the country.
Met Éireann has issued a yellow level warning for the entire country for Saturday and Sunday 8-9 February.
Southerly winds will strengthen during Saturday, reaching mean speeds of 50km/h to 65km/h, with gusts reaching 90km/h to 110km/h.
On Sunday, storm Ciara, which was named by the UK Met Office, will produce very strong winds over Ireland, with a risk of damaging gusts.
Flooding
Over the weekend, the combination of spring tides and high seas, as well as stormy conditions, increases the risk of coastal flooding, especially along southern, western and northwestern coasts.
The warning will be in place from 9am Saturday to midnight on Sunday.
Heavy rain will spread eastwards across the country on Saturday, with 20mm to 40mm expected, highest in the west and northwest.

On Sunday, another spell of heavy rain will clear to squally wintry showers. Another 20mm to 40mm of rain is likely.
There is a risk of localised flooding this weekend, especially over the western half of the country.
