The latest Department of Agriculture update on the status of applications under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS III) shows that 40.1% of applications under tranche eight have been approved. The update as per 15 October 2025 shows that 54.3% of applications are being progressed while 4% have been rejected and 1.6% were withdrawn.
The update also provides the latest status for applications submitted under tranche six and tranche seven. Tranche seven was the emergency tranche opened following storm Éowyn for a three-week period to assist farmers in repairing damaged fencing and being better prepared for any future storm disruption to their farms. The items covered are as follows:
As can be seen in Table 1, almost 80% of applications have been approved to date, with 10% being progressed. There were 8.7% rejected, which is higher than the normal level of about 5% and this is due to applications being submitted which were ineligible.
Tranche six
The approval rate for applications submitted under tranche six is also running at about 80%, with just over 11% in progress, 5.8% rejected and 2.8% withdrawn.
Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon previously announced that 100% of eligible applications received under tranches six, seven and eight of TAMS III will receive approval.
The Minister also recently noted in his Budget 2026 address that there were 6,100 applications submitted under tranche nine, which closed for applications on 5 September 2025. The Minister reiterated that the level of funding available for the remainder of the TAMS III scheme would need careful management. This follows on from an announcement that applications submitted under tranche nine will be subject to ranking and selection with the practice of approving all eligible applications ceasing at tranche eight.
The current tranche of TAMS III, tranche 10, will close for applications on 5 December. Applications submitted under tranche 10 will be subject to revised reference costs.
