The 16th annual Black Beauties Suffolk Female Sale takes place on Saturday 8 November in Blessington Mart, Co Wicklow. Organisers of the sale state that it will be the largest in-lamb Suffolk sale in Ireland in 2025 with elite in-lamb Suffolk sheep offered from 11 of the country’s top-performing flocks.

Flocks offering sheep include Ballinatone, Malinhead and Cionn Mhalanna, Glyde, Bonyglen, Castleisle and Shannagh, Finnvale, Ballynacannon, Screen, Railstown and Annakisha/Blackwater and Clyda.

The sale has been the source of champion sheep in recent years with three out of the last six premier male champions bred from hoggets sold at the annual event.

A spokesperson for the sale added that at last weekend’s West of Ireland Suffolk female sale the dam and grand dam of the highest price lots were sold at the Black Beauties sale.

“This year there will a great opportunity to acquire genetics from the Blessington Champion, Castleisle Dancing Brave 9000GN, Limestone Dream maker 11000GN and many more award-winning and top-priced rams in the country,” the spokesperson said.
