Carbery has set its base milk price for July at 37.40c/l excluding VAT, an increase of 0.48c/l excluding VAT on the price it paid out the month previous.

The processor has also brought forward an additional 0.5c/l excluding VAT support payment for last month’s supplies.

Eligible suppliers are due for a somatic cell count bonus of 0.5c/l excluding VAT and a FutureProof sustainability bonus of up to 1.25c/l excluding VAT, as well as a stability fund payment.

Carbery said that if this price was to be replicated across the four west Cork co-ops of Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird, supplies would be due a July milk price of 45.75c/l inclusive of VAT and all available bonuses at average solids supplied.

“We recognise the particularly challenging operating conditions our farmer suppliers are facing as a result of the current weather,” a spokesperson for Carbery said.

“In addition to the 0.5c/l [including VAT] increase in base milk price for July, Carbery will provide an additional 0.5c/l [including VAT] support payment for the month.”

Carbery’s milk price announcement for July follows Lakeland Dairies' and Dairygold's moves to up their base prices, Tirlán’s unveiling of a three-month milk support package and drought measures for Kinisla suppliers.
