In a review by Hippomundo of show jumping results so far this year, the Irish Sport Horse Studbook has come out on top as the highest-earner in the sport.

Two hundred and ninety-two Irish Sport Horses have competed on the global stage so far this year and on average, they earned nearly €3,000 each. This can be compared to the Dutch KWPN Studbook which has the most horses competing at 3,039 and earning €933 on average .

Working off the average amount earned by each horse, the Oldenburg (OLD) Studbook comes in second behind the Irish Sport Horse Studbook, with 302 horses earning an average of €1,894 each.

The highest-earning Irish Sport Horse so far this year is Bertram Allen’s Pacino Amiro, who is out of Carnone Dancing Queen (ISH) by NC Amiro (AES). Pacino Amiro was bred by Donegal’s Simon Scott and is owned by Aiden McGrory. The combination have earned €158,920 so far this year.

Allen and Pacino Amiro have been in partnership since October 2019, beginning with the young horse classes in Opglabbeek, Belgium. Since then they have progressed through the levels and competed as part of the Irish three-star Nations Cup team in Prague in August 2020, before heading for the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, where they had a hugely successful season, highlighted by their five-star Grand Prix in February, earning them just over €132,000.

The second highest-earning Irish Sport Horse is Javas Miss Jordan (Luidam x OBOS Quality), bred by Co Louth’s Judy Murphy. The 12-year-old mare is owned and ridden by Nicky Galligan. This duo have earned €142,690 so far this year.

Following a flurry of wins and placings in the US, everything came together for the combination in March when they landed the $250,000 four-star Grand Prix at Thermal in California.
