After several years of being absent from the National Ploughing Championships, Massey Ferguson has made the decision to return to this year’s Tullamore event.
The manufacturer is set to put on a wide-ranging display of tractors as well as implements, some of which will be making their first Irish show appearances.
Updated range
Launched in July, Massey will showcase the updated 8S Xtra model range – an 8S.285 model to be exact. In addition to a slightly tweaked styling with notable black accents, updates are mainly under the surface and include new fan control software, improved cooling and software improvements for Dyna-7 and Dyna-E transmissions.
New models benefit from a slimmer exhaust pipe, improved LED lighting and minor cab updates. A flagship 9S model will also be on display alongside members from the smaller 7S, 6S, 5S and 5M.
The 5M was first debuted at the Lamma Show in Birmingham earlier in the year. The range, which replaces the previous 5700M series, features six tractors from 95hp up to 145hp.

The 5M series include a number of updates including a larger fuel tank, new cab suspension and more onboard technology. One of the more notable updates is that the range is only offered with the Dyna-4 transmission and not the 12x12 mechanical transmission as before.
Tedders, rakes and baler
Elsewhere on the stand, Massey Ferguson will showcase a TD 776X 7.7m six rotor tedder, RK 662 6.65m twin rotor rake alongside an RB 3130 fixed chamber round baler and an RB 4160 variable chamber round baler.
