Hennessy Auctioneers held its monthly machinery auction last Saturday 20 June, where a 2019 Claas Axion 920 topped the sale at €53,000. The original example was complete with front linkage and PTO and read 6,255 hours.
The auction included a number of special dispersal sales, one of which was a large variety of tillage and vegetable equipment on behalf of a retiring tillage farmer. Just shy of 1,000 lots were catalogued in total as the sale got under way.
Including the timed online auction that followed Saturday’s live sale, ending on Monday morning, a total clearance of 86% was achieved.
Ciaran Hennessy from the Laois-based family auctioneering business highlighted that the sale attracted over 1,300 registered bidders and that the smaller dispersal sales all achieved a 100% clearance rate.

Other highlights from the sale included a 2006 John Deere 6420S with 4,522 hours which sold at €36,000 plus VAT, a 2013 JCB 541-70 Agri Xtra telehandler with 6,000 hours which sold at €24,000 plus VAT, a 2007 New Holland TS115A with 9,617 hours which sold at €22,500.
A 2018 McHale F5500 round baler showing a bale count between 55,000 and 60,000 sold at €18,250 plus VAT. A 2012 Amazone UF 1,300l mounted 24m sprayer sold at €17,000 plus VAT and a 2018 Smyth 32ft bale trailer complete with front and rear racks sold at €16,000 plus VAT. A Smyth 20T dump trailer sold at €13,500 and a 2022 SMS 3m Grass harrow and seeder sold for €12,000.
