Tuesday’s sale at Tullow Mart saw a large entry of over 1,500 sheep on offer.

The trade remained similar to last week for factory and heavier fleshed lambs, but stores were somewhat easier by €2 to €3 per head, according to mart manager Eric Driver.

These three lambs weighing 43kg on average sold for €92 each (€2.14/kg).

Lambs over 48kg sold from €108 to a top of €115/head, with the majority making between €109 and €112/head.

Lambs from 44kg to 48kg sold from €103 to a top of €112/head, with the majority making from €105 to €108/kg.

This pen of five lambs weighing 46kg on average sold for €101 each (€2.20/kg).

Lighter lambs carrying flesh over 40kg sold from €96 to €106/head, with the majority selling from €100 to €103/head.

Stores were easier and those from 35kg to 38kg sold from €80 up to €88/head. Lighter stores from 30kg to 32kg sold from €68 upwards, while those from 32kg to 35kg sold from €72 to €78/head.

This pen of seven lambs weighing 47kg on average sold for €107 (€2.28/kg).

Cast ewes were a very strong trade and sold for up to €157/head for a pen of 25 ewes. One lot of top-quality heavy ewes sold from €140/head upwards.

Store ewes sold from €20 to €25 over the kilo and up to €30 over the weight for young types. Ewes and hoggets with lambs at foot sold from €160 up to €180/lot, with some younger ewes with twin lambs at foot making up to €220/lot.
