A 74-year-old man was seriously injured in a quad accident on a farm near Donegal town on Monday.
The Coast Guard told the Irish Farmers Journal that the ambulance service had requested helicopter assistance to deal with the incident.
The man was airlifted to Sligo University Hospital for treatment.
The Health and Safety Authority had not yet been notified of the incident on Tuesday morning, but a spokesperson said this could take some time in non-fatal cases.
A teenager died in a separate quad accident on a farm last month and a bill is before the Oireachtas to impose stricter safety rules on the vehicles.
