UFU hill farming committee chair Nigel McLaughlin has urged sheep producers to continue to support Ulster Wool.

Recognising that the 2020 wool market has collapsed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and that difficult times still lie ahead, McLaughlin wants farmers to continue sending in wool, even if there is little or no economic return.

“NI has only one grading depot located in Muckamore, Co Antrim, and to ensure that it survives and remains open in future, it’s vital that farmers continue to supply wool to the depot”, said McLaughlin.

The UFU has also lobbied Minister Poots for support.
