With a select and growing stable of elite show jumping stallions, Noble Stallions is fast becoming a name to remember in performance horse breeding in Ireland. Heading the line-up for 2022 is Another Pleasure, a stallion that possesses not only a proven record at the very highest level, but also exceptional bloodlines. Also available from Noble Stallions is Cobra 18, a Cornet Obolensky-sired stallion with some very, very exciting progeny emerging on the young horse circuit. And new for 2022 is Calgary VGW Z, an exciting young stallion with an enormous future, both as an international show jumper and also undoubtedly as a successful sire.

A PLEASURE FOR IRISH BREEDERS

Another Pleasure is one of the top-ranked progenies of For Pleasure, a name synonymous with show jumping at the very highest levels. For Pleasure was a four times winner of team gold and had one of the longest and richest careers in show jumping history. Born in 2005 and standing an impressive 172cm, Another Pleasure has himself jumped to 1.60m and has represented The Netherlands on Nations Cup teams 13 times. With 124 international starts and two championships to his name, Another Pleasure combines a proven performance at the highest level with some of the very best show jumping genes in the world.

Tony Noble of Noble Stallions comments:

“Another Pleasure had an incredibly successful first breeding season in Ireland last year. He is proving to be exceptionally fertile, and we were delighted to have so many very good mares use him, many of whom have already produced international jumping horses. This year has got off to a positive start with savvy breeders already booking their mares in with Tullaghansleek Stud, who have played a vital part in Another Pleasure’s success and in ensuring so many successful pregnancies and happy breeders.”

Every successful breeder understands the importance of a proven dam line and with the world-renowned Ramiro Z in his dam line, not to mention over five generations of black type mares that have produced numerous 1.50m and 1.60m jumpers, including Lupo 114 (Zandor RV) (1.60m), Maserati (1.60m), Santa Rosa Valery (1.60m) and VDL Orestus (1.60m), Another Pleasure has a dam line that will be the envy of most.

Previously named Forani, Another Pleasure was purchased privately as a 6yo achieving an auction topping price of €190,000 at the Wolden Summer Sale. His then new owners renamed him Another Pleasure and he went on to pursue his competitive show jumping career under a number of top riders, including Robert Vos and Peter Geerink.

Some of Another Pleasures most notable successes under Robert Vos include wins at the CSI3* at Geesteren (NED) and Sint-Katelijne-Waver (BEL), was second in theCSI2* GP at Zuidwolde (NED) and 3rd in the CSI2* Grand Prix at Ising am Chiemsee (GER) and Sibculo (NED). Under Peter Geerink, the stallion was 2nd at the Grand Prix of Leszno (POL), Mariënheem (NED) and Zuidwolde (NED) and 3rd in Grand Prix CSI3* at San Giovanni in Italy.

Having clocked up these and numerous successes up to 1.60m level, represented The Netherlands on many occasions and achieving many wins and 35 top 10 placings at international two and three star level, Another Pleasure retired from competition fit and sound in 2020, after 11 successful years of jumping with the same owners. Following his retirement, Tony seized the opportunity to add him to the Noble Stallions portfolio and bring him to Ireland.

Tony continues “When the opportunity to purchase Another Pleasure arose, it was the first time that I really became excited about another stallion since losing Cobra 18. He has incredible presence and is tall, extremely handsome and has a fantastic temperament. He is a pure quality, blood horse and has always been extremely rideable with a lovely, easy way of going. You can see that in his previous performances, many of which can easily be viewed on the Noble Stallions Facebook page.”

Another Pleasure is standing at Tullaghansleek Stud, one of Ireland’s oldest family-owned and managed stud farms and is available for AI by fresh and chilled semen for the 2022 breeding season. Centrally located just outside Mullingar in Co. Westmeath and just over one hour west of Dublin airport, Tullaghansleek Stud is an institution of equine history which dates back to 1867. Steeped in Ireland’s history of producing quality stock, an incredible seven generations of the Carey family have and continue to live on and run this equine establishment. With a purpose built Equine A.I. Laboratory and Station, Tullaghansleek provide superior services to breeders throughout Ireland and the rest of the world.

COBRA 18 – GONE TOO SOON, BUT HIS LEGACY WILL LIVE ON

Although Cobra 18 was unfortunately lost in 2019 to a severe colic attack, a limited supply of frozen semen from this superb son of Cornet Obolensky remains available through Noble Stallions. A stallion with superb genetics, proven performance to a top-level and exceptional fertility, Cobra 18 covered a small number of mares as a young stallion and one of his early progeny is the exceptional 1.60m gelding Dublin.

While Cobra 18 then spent several years concentrating on his own show jumping career, Tony Noble of Noble Stallions was part of an investment group that brought him to stand at stud in Ireland in 2015 and since then he has proven himself to be an exceptional young performance horse now on the young horse circuit, Cobra 18's legacy will live on.

CALGARY VGW Z - AN EYE ON THE FUTURE

New to the Noble Stallions stable for 2022 is the exceptionally talented 4yo Calgary VGW Z. Purchased from the Zangersheide Quality Auction, Calgary’s family is littered with 1.60m performers on both sides.

By the legendary Casall, Calgary’s dam Lageena Hero is by Echo Van’t Spieveld (1.60m), she is full sister to Jirvaro Imperio Egipcio (1.60m) and Kheros Van’t Hoogeinde (1.60m) and his grandmother, the international jumping mare Geena (1.55m), stems from the Usha Van’t Roosakker dam line.

Tony comments “Calgary is a beautifully put together young stallion, showing lovely movement across the ground and exceptional technique with great elasticity over fences. He comes from arguably the best dam line in the modern show jumping breeding world and this, coupled with the phenomenally successful Casall as his sire, makes Calgary VGW Z a very exciting prospect for future generations and for Irish breeding.”
