Billy McFarland is one of Ireland’s most prolific recording artists. The man from Ahoghill, Co Antrim, has been associated with showbusiness since the late 1950s when the music of Guy Mitchell and Pat Boone was much to the fore on both sides of the Atlantic.

The latest album from Billy is Absent Friends, a collection of 14 tracks featuring a blend of country songs and trumpet instrumentals. The album includes two songs penned by Vincent Soye from Down and lovely renditions of Danny Boy, Cold Cold Heart, Too Old To Die Young, Picture In A Frame and Sara’s Song.

Billy’s acclaimed tribute to Jim Reeves a few years ago was the stepping stone for The Story of Elvis, which he features on the new album. It looks set to secure lots of airplay in the times ahead as he pays his own inspiring tribute to Elvis Presley, who was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on 8 January 1935 and died alone in Graceland, Memphis, on 16 August 1977.

Billy McFarland maintains a hectic schedule and is a firm favourite as a guest performer on concert shows.

“The music scene has been my life and I love every night I go out on stage. It has been a privilege to get to know so many people all over the island of Ireland and further afield, and count so many of them as good and dear friends.”
