You might be surprised when I tell you I keep very few products on and in my desk at work. (We won't talk about what I keep in my handbag). I'm going through a minimalist phase with what I keep at arm's reach during work hours and thought I'd show you what has made the cut and my reasons behind each product, because Lord knows I have a story for everything! I'm always switching things up so this is what I keep in my desk at the moment.

Squeezy tube of lip balm

The squeezy part is very important altogether. This prevents the spreading of cooties because no matter how gross you think sharing a pot of lip balm with someone is, there is always one out there who doesn't give a second thought of having a grand dip in your pot of lovely balm with their dirty fingers. It doesn't matter that they've been snotting and sneezing around the place and if they don't wash their hands after using the loo, well that just doesn't bear thinking about. I've cracked open a new tube of Cicaplast Lips from La Roche-Posay and still love it for keeping my lips soft and moisturised.

Nail file

This was a very recent addition to my desk supply and is what inspired this post. The other day, one of the girls asked me if I'd a nail file. I didn't and she was shocked. Then I was shocked. How could I have not deemed this important enough to keep at my desk? Now I shall no longer have raggedy nails. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be sitting at my desk like a lady of leisure filing my nails. No, this is for times where I break a nail or need to smooth things over.

Cuticle care

I always forget to apply cuticle oils at home, but at work, it's easy to get into a good habit. I love the Cuticle Rehab from Sally Hansen and no matter what I'm trying out for nails and cuticle care, I always go back to this. I love the brush applicator, the gel formula that doesn't make a big mess and you can still continue on working away without leaving big greasy marks in paper. It also makes you type with straight fingers as you admire your newly taken care of nails.

Cicaplast Baume B5

This is always on my desk for times where I get a paper cut, develop a random dry patch on my face during the day, or when my lips decide they need an extra bit of soothing. It's one of those products that I have at home as well as at work because you just never know. I understand I sound like a bridie saying this but that's why the girls at work come to me looking for stuff!

Hair clip

Yes, this is random, but because my hair is at a ridiculous length at the moment, I get annoyed with it when it's down for the whole day. So this is handy. And it's leopard print. Also, if I wear my hair in a ponytail, sometimes it hurts. Yes, I get a pain in my hair. How sad is that, so a hair clip like this one from Penneys keeps the hair out of my face while not killing me. Always handy.

Face mist

There are lots of face mists out there and when better to whip them out and put them through their paces than at work. The place where it is humanly impossible to get the perfect temperature, so you're always either roasting or freezing and your face doesn't know what's going on. To keep your skin from exploding off your face, to give your makeup a bit of revitalisaion and give it a hit of hydration while soothing, a face mist will do the job. I'm using this new one from L'Occitane's Pivione Sublime range which has peony extract and smells gorgeous! Do this with your door closed though or it will look like you think you're Lady Muck sitting there at your desk spritzing yourself.

Lovely perfume

I like smelling nice and like others to smell nice. So I have a perfume drawer at work where I bring the fragrances I'm testing out at that time. This also means that I have a perfect excuse to have the chats with the girls while we stink out the whole department. We can generally say if a scent is a keeper or not if the girls in reception start coughing or not. I'm loving the new Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc fragrance from L'Occitane which smells so soft and feminine and is the perfect transition scent as we go from spring to summer. Another one on the testing panel which was instant love is the new Rise Sheer perfume from Beyoncé. If you're a fan of fresh, slightly citrusy scents with hints of bergamot, then you will love this. It also has jasmine and anything with that is a winner in my book.

Hand cream

Another must for the desk. I love the Roger & Gallet hand creams because they smell lovely, are nice and small so if I want to pop them in my bag I can, and they leave my hands feeling lovely and soft. This feels gorgeous on the skin, has a delicate fragrance and dries into the skin quickly meaning that I don't have to do jazz hands trying to get it to dry in.

What do you keep at your desk? Am I missing a core piece that could change my worky beauty life?
