Nathan Carter has landed the biggest gig in Ireland this summer. Aiken Promotions has confirmed that the young country singer will play support to Garth Brooks during his Croke Park shows on Monday and Tuesday, 28 and 29 July. Former Westlife star Shane Filan, who recently embarked on a solo career, will play support for the first three shows.

This is another huge break for Nathan, the young man whose fame has been on the rise in recent months. Nathan recently signed with DECCA records in London and his new album will be released in the UK, America and Australia.

Garth Brooks made music history in Ireland some months ago when he sold out five 80,000 seats in Croke Park within days. The concerts saw one of the biggest demands for tickets in the history of Irish show business. Therefore, it almost defies logic that the national broadcasters do not have a dedicated series of country shows each week.

Born in Liverpool on 29 May, 1990, to Irish parents, Nathan has become a phenomenon on the country circuit. He did a guest spot with Philomena Begley in Donegal at the age of 15. A year later, he journeyed with the Enjoy Travel Company to their overseas music holiday on the island of Ibiza after being given a chance by Dermot Hegarty who was booking acts for the company at the time.

This gave Nathan one of his first significant breaks and he has gone back to Gerry Flynn and Enjoy Travel to organise and coordinate his first music trip to the Costa Del Sol in Spain this coming September.

While things were moving ahead at a quick pace for Nathan, it was his recording of Wagon Wheel that catapulted him into wider recognition. The song took off and became one of the most requested songs of the year. It is now at the heart of the Carter stage repertoire, the song that gets the whole crowd swaying.

Nathan’s selection comes as no surprise to his thousands of loyal fans. The 24-year-old singer has introduced an entire new generation to Irish country music. He is bringing in huge crowds all over the country and is still finding it strange to realise that so many doors have opened for him in such a short time.

“I am absolutely delighted to be appearing as support for Garth Brooks. It’s an honour and privilege and I just can’t wait. I am a huge fan of Garth and to be appearing with him – well it’s totally unbelievable, it really is so exciting,” says an overjoyed Nathan.
