The monthly gigs by The Sheerin Family in Cooney’s Hotel in Ballymahon have become a focal point for many music followers in the region. These sessions have taken on a life of their own as aficionados flock to the venue from near and far.

The next session takes place on 10 February and fans have a very special treat in store when the family will be joined by two special surprise guests. All will be revealed on the night, but a full house is predicted again.

Past guests include Robert Mizzell, Joni Harms (USA), Nathan Carter, Lisa McHugh, Johnny Brady, Matt Leavy, Philomena Begley and many more. It has now become such a high-profile gig that guests are lining up for a chance to perform at the event.

The Sheerin Family band consists of seven family members out of 11. Featuring on stage are Paul on steel guitar, Dessie on bass, Danny on vocals and acoustic guitar, Kieran on piano, Tom on fiddle, Simon on drums and Carmel on vocals and acoustic guitar.

The show starts at 10pm and admission is free.

Country fans can also watch out for a special night when their parents, Dan and Mary Sheerin, will launch their debut album of country duets in the Well, Moate, on 24 February. They will be joined by a host of well-known names from the country scene.
