There will be lots to see on the McHale stand at this year’s National Ploughing Championships. Marketing manager Paul McHale said: “It has been an exciting time for us with the development of two new products to add to our range.”
The new machine that will be on display for the first time at the Ploughing is McHale’s new front- and side-mounted mower. The mower has been designed using a 3D printer and developed to perform in heavy crops with undulating field conditions.
Along with the new mower is the new Orbital wrapper. This is McHale’s fastest trailed wrapper. It has been developed to a new design from the HS 2000 model, which filled that market segment before.
McHale will also have its range of Fusion 3 combination machines featuring film-on-film technology. Traditionally, when silage or haylage was being made, twine or net wrap was applied to the bale to keep it together. In a combination baler-wrapper, such as the McHale fusion, the bale is then wrapped once it leaves the bale chamber and before it is deposited on the ground. The plastic seals the bale, which allows fermentation to take place, producing high-quality silage or haylage.
Over the last number of years, McHale has been working on a system which applies plastic on to the bale in the bale chamber. This eliminates the need to use net wrap or twine to keep the bale together as it passes from the baler to the bale wrapper.
Also on the stand for McHale are its 5000 series fixed and variable chamber balers. The fixed chamber range has three models to choose from. The F5400 is a non-chopper baler, the F5500 comes with 15 knives for chopping and the F5600 has a 25-knife chopping unit.
The successful 991 wrapper model will also be on the stand, with a number of variants including the high-speed model. The high-speed model has a twin dispenser mounted on the mast, which increases output for contractors. This model is aimed at contractors who are running tow balers.
