The Longines World Show Jumping Rankings published last week, and covering competitions during the month of November, show Ireland punching well above its weight. Over 2,000 international riders are monitored each month, with points awarded for top performances at major shows. Tipperary’s Denis Lynch has improved by eight places to enter at No 22, while US-based Darragh Kenny has jumped three places to 36. Mayo’s Cameron Hanley has also improved by three places to claim 50th. Behind Hanley are Billy Twomey (64th), Shane Breen (65th), Shane Sweetnam (67th), Conor Swail (72nd) and Richie Moloney (97th). Current leader in the rankings is Britain’s Scott Brash, with the USA’s Kent Farrington in second place, and Germany’s Ludger Beerbaum in third.

And just to hammer home his success, Bertram Allen added yet another victory to his tally with a win in the Lichtenvoorde Grand Prix in the Netherlands last Sunday. Piloting the bay mare Wild Thing L, which is jointly owned by Ballywalter Farms and Billy Twomey.

Bertram has also been nominated for the Irish Independent Young Sports Star of the Year. HSI is urging the equestrian community to vote for Bertram in the coming weeks.
