There has been a spate of ATV thefts across the country and the general view is that few if any of the stolen ATVs are recovered.
With modern ATVs costing upwards of €10,000 when attachments are included, it is worthwhile spending some additional money on security devices.
Easytrack is offering a cost-effective tracking option for ATV owners. Mark Egan of Easytrack (www.easytrack.ie) told the Irish Farmers Journal that the company can offer a tracking package discretely fitted to an ATV for €200 including VAT. Easytrack has added a number of similar systems to tractors across the country with good results.

There is the option of an ongoing and live tracking system or the more simple system whereby the owner of the ATV is alerted if the ATV is moved based on a vibration alert monitor. This basic unit, fitted by Easytrack on the farm or at the dealership, will prevent the ATV engine from starting and alert up to three mobile phone numbers that it is being tampered with.
This system does require the use of a mobile phone SIM card with a six-month top-up required to keep the card live. Easytrack also offers a billpay option for €5 per month for those ATV owners who would prefer not to have to remember the mobile top-up.
Full 24/7 live tracking of the ATV, which will allow you to monitor its location at all times on your smartphone, will cost an additional €30 per year. This level of monitoring will be unnecessary for most ATV users, who simply want to ensure their vehicle cannot be stolen from their farm.
