Manufacturer Fleming has developed a new slurry pump called the SP100. According to Fleming, the new design reduces fuel consumption during agitation of slurry. Its direct-flow design uses hydraulic engineering principles, which minimises the turbulence in the slurry stream, creating higher output with a better mixing capability.

Fleming believes this design creates a high-output, fuel-efficient mixing unit with a corresponding reduction in horsepower and fuel requirement.

The result is a reduction in the cost of utilising the valuable resources contained in slurry.

The new pump is designed for mixing only and the fully galvanised body and marine-quality bearing help ensure a long working life.

Tests carried out by the company recorded an estimated flow rate of 13,600 litres (3,000 gallons) per minute using approximately 14 to 15 litres of fuel per hour working at 540rpm with a 95hp tractor. This fuel saving is a direct result of the progressively pressurised flow of slurry directly out into the tank without the turbulence created in a top-fill chamber. The company has carried out extensive tests over the past two years and is offering this product across its dealer network for 2016.
