Just one year on from the opening of a new protype workshop, Claas has inaugurated two new assembly lines at its Metz-Woippy baler site in France.
The two new assembly lines will be used for the production of the Cerex round baler range and the new Cubix baler which was awarded a Gold Agritechncia award last November.
This investment of €3.3 million at the 65-year-old site reflects Claas’ long-term commitment to France and the Grand Est region and prepares it for future growth.

As part of the project final assembly has been reorganised and includes the freeing up of 1,800m2 f space previously occupied by a logistics warehouse by outsourcing the storage of slow-moving parts and reorganising on-site storage, reorganisation of assembly lines, with pre-assembly areas to optimise production flows.
New soundproof test cabins have also been built to test larger machines, while heating and lighting improvements have also been introduced.
“As a family business, balers have been part of our DNA for more than 100 years. Metz is our home for baler production, and France is one of CLAAS’ core markets. This is an invest on our future and reflects our commitment to the Metz region and to France as a whole.” said Cathrina Claas-Mühlhäuser, Chairwoman of the Shareholders' Committee, at the inauguration.
The investment at the 65 year old facility totals €3.3 million.
