Lemken has introduced the successor to its Saphir 10 mechanical seed drill.

The new Saphir XMR provides additional precision while maintaining the Saphir’s proven features.

Developed from the ground up, the new metering system incoproates metering wheels that can be individually swapped out without the use of tools, leaving it easier to switch between seed types and to clean the machine.

Standard specification includes a double-sided electric drive with half-width shut off.

Depth is adjusted via a central lever, while coulter pressure and sowing depth can be adjusted separately. A tramline control system allows operators to select different tramline patterns and working widths.

The Saphir XMR is available with the iQblue suite of digital solutions, offering Isobus-based functionality and functions such as calibration testing and residual seed emptying which are available with digital support.

The metering wheels can be individually swapped out without the use of tools.

The Saphir XMR uses Lemkens parallelogram guided double disc coulter with pressure roller, offering up to 45kg of downwards force to ensure consistent seeding depth and good soil contact in all conditions.

The drill is available with 12.5cm- or 15cm-row spacings.

Seed hopper capacities on offer are 900l, 1,200l and 1,500l and offer a generous opening for loading. As an option, the MultiHub pneumatic seeder can be fitted as a 200l auxiliary hopper for the sowing of a second seed type.

The Saphir XMR can be mounted on the Zirkon EMR and Zirkon XMR power harrows and for the first time a 600 series roller is available, reducing rolling resistance and improving consolidation.

When raised for transport the drill pivots in across the harrow, keeping weight as close to the tractors rear axle as possible.

The semi-mounted design allows the drill to swivel forward when lifted, ensuring the drill sits as close to the tractor rear axle as possible for stable weight distribution and smooth road transport.
