The top price of €6,000 at the Irish Charolais Society show and sale in Tullamore was taken by Kerry breeder Oliver Mason, Rathanny, Tralee. His 15-month-old bull Parkearagh Jeffery is an Inverlochy Ferdie son and is out of a homebred Nelson dam. With five stars on both terminal and replacement indices, the sale topper was later bought by Martin Merlehan, Clonkill, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, for €6,000.

In reserve was Sliabhbawn JesseJames exhibited by James Duke, Caggle, Strokestown, Co Roscommon. By Thrunton Voldemort, he is out of a homebred Pompon dam and was bought by Chris Connon, Dunmore, Crumlin, Co Antrim, for the second-highest price of €5,500.

Buyers were selective in their purchases, but were still willing to spend on quality lots. Prices started at €1,850, with 60% of bulls selling for an average price of €3,100. Eight bulls were exported to NI and one to Scotland.
