Topping the recent online timed auction from the Corlismore herd based outside Ballinagh in Co Cavan was the Hereford heifer, Corlismore Prim 261.
A daughter of Shiloh-Farm Dynamite, this October 2023-born heifer goes back to the herd’s former stock bull Corlismore Pompeii and Grianan Prim. Offering a nice balance of terminal traits and a carcase weight figure of +16.6kg, she was the choice lot of Essmore Herefords in Co Louth at €7,000.
Trading at €6,800 was Corlismorepoll 1 Sydney 299, a Normanton 1 Laertes ET daughter going back to a homebred dam by the former National Hereford Show champion, Grianan Firecracker. Despite carrying a one-star replacement index of €38, the bids came in fast and frequent for the Sydney, before settling with a herd in Co Cork. Milovaig Herefords in Scotland secured the May 2024 born bull Corlismore Geezer PP at €6,600. A homozygous polled son of Solpoll 1 Real Good ET, Geezer also goes back to the herd’s prolific Sydney line.
Hitting €4,900 was another Prim, this time it was the full horned heifer Corlismore Prim 289 HH. Born in May 2024, this Allowdale Rambo daughter goes back to the herd’s multi award winning stock bull, Shiloh-Farm Dynamite. Overall, ten out of the 12 lots found new homes, averaging just short of €5,000.
Commenting on the sale, John Tevlin from Ballyjamesduff Mart said: “It was a great trade, with bidders from across the country, and Scotland. Its been a busy few weeks for the team at Ballyjamesduff Mart, with the on-farm Dairy sale selling to €5,000, the Tateetra and Rathmore farms sale selling to €18,000 with a full clearance and the Broomfield timed auction hitting €5,800 for a Limousin heifer.”
