The auction of a 98.5-acre residential farm situated at Constable Hill, Hacketstown, Co Carlow, has been rescheduled for 22 May. This property was originally brought to the market last autumn at a guide price of €5,500/acre (circa €540,000) and is likely to generate active local interest given that it will be offered in one or two lots that include the residence and yard on 50 acres and the remaining 48.5 acres.
Situated less than two miles from Hacketstown, the property has been used for a sheep and tillage enterprise over the years and according to selling agent Jordan auctioneers, Newbridge, is renowned in the area for its fattening abilities.
Constable Hill is set out in one 98.5-acre block of about 10 fields. With its limestone base, a portion of the land has been tilled for cereals in recent years while the remaining land is elevated grazing ground – the highest point being 229 metres above sea level.
The residence is a traditional farmhouse and although in need of some modernisation, it occupies a poised setting in the middle of the farm that offers expansive countryside views. There is also a charming limestone yard on the property which may offer possible conversion opportunities.
For sale by auction on 22 May at 3pm in Germaines, Baltinglass, the property will be offered in its entirety and in two separate lots. Given the attractive guide of €5,500/acre, strong interest is expected.
