Co Westmeath farm makes an impressive €650,000 at auction
A farm on the outskirts of Kilbeggan with gravel deposits went under the hammer in early December selling at the higher side of its pre-sale guide price, writes Tommy Moyles.

GVM Tullamore held a successful auction of a circa 55ac grassland farm in Westmeath in early December. The land at Skeahanagh, Cole Hill, Kilbeggan achieved €650,000 when it sold by online auction on Friday 8 December on the LSL platform.
This price equates to €11,818/ac putting it at the upper end of its pre-auction guide of €11,000 to €12,000/ac.
Less than 1km east of Kilbeggan and fronting onto the R446 main road, this farm is a short distance from Junction 5 on the M6 motorway.

All in one block, the grassland farm is laid out in seven main fields and there were substantial sand and gravel deposits present on the land. A two-storey derelict house is located at the centre of the holding and is accessed by a gravel laneway which runs from the public road.
It’s understood the buyer is a farmer with business interests.
