A 100ac holding is for sale near Ballycastle, Co Mayo. The property is at Keerglen and is being sold by Fox & Gallagher Auctioneers. It goes for auction on 3 November.

The property will be offered in lots as follows:

  • Lot 1 will be c4.5ac described by the auctioneers as good-quality agricultural land with lengthy road frontage, a water supply and good fencing. It is guided at €40,000.
  • Lot 1A will be c1ac with a three-bedroomed house with solid fuel heating. It needs upgrading. There are sheds alongside suited for storage. The guide price is €45,000.
  • Lot 2 will be c15.8ac of good dry land, well fenced. The guide price is €75,000.
  • Lot 3 will be c15.8ac of good,well fenced land. The guide price is €65,000 to €70,000.
  • Lot 4 will be c21ac of good land with road frontage and mature hedge boundaries. The guide price is in the region of €75,000.
  • Lot 5 will be c42.2ac of high dry bogland, described as ideal for forestry. The guide price is region of €80,000.
  • The auction is at 5pm in Healy’s Bar, Ballycastle.

    The same auctioneer achieved a strong price of €146,000 for 9ac at a recent packed auction in The Lodge, Knockmore. The land was at Newtowncloghans. Another 9ac lot made €86,000 while c6ac of lower lying land sold for €15,000.

    “It was jammed - the whole village was in the pub,” Karl Fox said afterwards.
