Sheet metal fabrication company McAree Engineering Ltd is recruiting for applicants for metal fabrication and sheet metalworking apprenticeships.

Sheet metal workers work with metal sheets which they laser cut, bend and punch using different types of equipment, while the work of metal fabricators involves the installation and manufacture of a range of metallic systems, including pressure vessels, tank and boiler manufacture and structural steel systems among others.

Based at two sites, in Ballinode and Carrickor, in north Monaghan, McAree Engineering provides an outsource sheet metal fabrication service for a range of own equipment manufacturers across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Exports of sheet metal work account for 40% of the company’s total business and some of its major customers for sheet metal fabrication are in the quarry industry. McAree has also been making the V-Mac range of bulk storage silos for over 30 years. Silo sales were up 20% last year and account for 30% of total business.

McAree Engineering’s customers include multinationals such as Intel, Teagasc and UCD, as well as well-known pig and poultry producers, livestock farmers and food compound millers.

Company turnover is €9m per annum and McAree Engineering Ltd has invested over €2m in the past 12 months improving its facilities.

McAree Engineering is working with Cavan & Monaghan Education & Training Board in delivering these apprenticeships. Apprenticeships will begin soon. An aptitude test and interviews will take place this month and there will be a work experience placement next month.

Job offers are finalised in September 2016.
