The Virginia Agricultural Show took place on Wednesday of this week, which again hosted the much-anticipated €10,000 Baileys champion dairy cow competition.

This Saturday and Sunday are big days in the Angus world. On Saturday, Irish Angus breeders will make their way to Iverk Show in Pilltown, Kilkenny, for the finals of the Aldi ABP Irish Angus bull calf championships.

Animals first have to qualify at regional shows before qualifying for these finals, which sees them compete for a total prize fund of €30,000.

New for this year is the young stockperson class, which sees the winner walk away with a cheque for €1,000.

On Sunday, the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association hosts its annual all-Ireland finals at Dualla Show. This is first time the show has attracted an all-Ireland final, so organisers are expecting the show to be bigger and better than ever before. These finals have attracted 80 entries from the Angus breed alone and will see German judge Bernhard Delle officiating over the classes on the day.
