The Irish Blonde Cattle Society will return to the 2015 National Ploughing Championships after a one-year absence. In a bid to showcase the strong commercial ability of the breed, the cattle display will feature a number of cows of various breeds with their Blonde cross calves at foot. This should give a flavour of the ability of the breed to cross with any breed and produce quality calves on the ground.

A major attraction will be the AI sire Clondown Eddie (Bova AI). Straws of this AI sire will be available on special offer. In addition, over €5,000 of cash prizes will be up for grabs in a draw over the course of the three days.

2015 marked the first Blonde commercial herds competition, with over 40 herds participating across six regions. The society hopes to announce the overall winner at the Ploughing.

The Blonde Breed Journal and Sire Directory will also be launched at the Ploughing. This journal is full of breed information and contacts and will be available on the stand over the three days.

This autumn, the Blonde Society will be sponsoring commercial Blonde cross classes at the Winter Fair in Carrick-on-Shannon and in Roscommon.
