The final of RTÉ One’s Ireland’s Fittest Family was aired yesterday and saw the dairy farmers win the title and a prize of €15,000.
The Kingston team consisted of dad Peter and kids Richard, Luke and Jessica. They were the underdogs of the competition but ended beating two families, the Daverns and the Mulhares, to win the title.
The show ran for seven weeks and showed families battle through a series of extreme physical challenges, facing obstacles that included mud, heights, water and jumps. Each team was coached by a famous sportsperson, with Derval O'Rourke guiding the Kingstons to victory.

The family watched the show in Kinsale Rugby Club, with none of their friends and family knowing who won.
“We had let on that we lost,” says Peter. “The roaring when we won was something else. The people of Kinsale are taking the win for themselves!”
“I’m just glad we proved that the farming community isn’t to be sneezed at and you don’t have to go to the gym to be fit.”
